Happy New Year 2013

on January 01, 2013

So here we are, another year to look forward to, perhaps the year to start your long awaited and much planned extension? This time of year is a good time to get things started if you wish to get the building work done this year during the summer months. If you add up the time from initial survey, to schemes, planning application, building regulations, structural engineers and then going with this information to a builder for pricing and finally instructing them - now is definitely the time to get started. Who knows, with the extra room you'll have, we can all spend Christmas 2013 at yours in luxury!

Great news this week with permission being granted by East Devon District Council for a replacement dwelling in the countryside. The proposed house has really embraced the latest technology in a traditional design, addressing the site orientation and constraints to provide a fantastic scheme that will provide the applicants with a low running cost home for life, fit for the 21st Century. The applicants are keen to acheive passive house standards of insulation, air leakage and limiting cold bridging which relies on thorough detailing and correct execution on site. I look forward to this house progressing to completion.

You may well have heard in the news that Permitted Development rights may be relaxed for extensions to residential properties, but what exactly would this mean for you?...
